In the framework of the CEI’s contribution to scientific cooperation / education & training, the CEI-Exec

Public and private institutions registered in a CEI Member State, as well as international and regional organisations, are invited to apply to the CEI Cooperation Fund for innovative actions favouring mobility and networking.

On 23 May the 2nd Stakeholder’s Roundtable led by the CEI - Executive Secretariat in the framework of the Inter-Connect project was held in Trieste, gathering representatives from the Municipality of Trieste, Muggia and Koper, as well as from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Koper Regional Development Centre, Samer & Co, and the Association ViaggiareSlow.
CEI SG Roberto Antonione expresses his condolences on behalf of the Central European Initiative for the death of Gianni De Michelis, Italian Foreign Minister from 1989 to 1992.
On 15-16 May 2019, the 5th Steering Committee Meeting of the project CONNECT2CE led by the CEI-Executive Secretariat was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Project partners mainly gathered to evaluate and discuss the concluded and ongoing project activities, as well as to elaborate on upcoming events.
Under the inspiring topic “Effervescible. Seeking ongoing relevancy”, the 9th CEI Venice Forum for Contemporary Art Curators from Central and Eastern Europe was held in Venice, on 9 May, at the premises of the Academy of Fine Arts.

CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione, during an official ceremony on 14 May, opened a CEI Representation Office in Brussels, hosted by the Liaison Office of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia in Brussels.

The CEI is glad to announce a new Call for Proposals for the CEI Know‐how Exchange Programme (KEP). The projects will be co‐financed by the CEI Fund at the EBRD, entirely financed by the Italian Government.

The CEI - Executive Secretariat and the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative (AII) Permanent Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the framework of the meeting of the Adriatic and Ionian Council.

On 6 May, CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione and a delegation of the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES), including Deputy Secretary General Nina Kodelja and Senior Officers, visited Albania.

On 3 May, the CEI - Executive Secretariat and the Italian Ministry of Justice (Department of Penitentiary Administration - Triveneto Office) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

On 17-18 April, over 40 experts and practitioners from 15 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and South Caucasus gathered in Bucharest to participate in this conference to discuss the issue regarding many children left behind due to the migration of parents for labour reasons.

On 18 April, the presentation of an experimental cross-border single ticket to travel on the vehicles of two public transport operators between the cities of Trieste and Ljubljana was opened at the CEI HQ by CEI Secretary General, Roberto Antonione.
On 9-10 April, in the framework of the 4helix+ project, the CEI-Executive Secretariat  - in its capacity as project partner dealing with communication - took part in the Final Blue BootCamp and Transnational Brokerage Event in Zadar (Croatia), organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (project partner).
Prominent science reporters, editors and researchers from the region gathered on Friday 5 April at the Radio televizija Srbije in Belgrade for the first of three Balkan Science Journalism workshops.
The CEI’s annual Steering Committee (SC) meeting and CEI Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) meeting under the Italian CEI Presidency, took place on 10 April at the Headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
The International high-level Conference on “Inter-basin Cooperation on Marine Litter: a focus on the Danube River and the Black Sea” took place in Sofia on 4 April. The event was organised by the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS).

On 28 and 29 March, more than 150 representatives from the business community, attorneys-at-law and arbitrators attended the two-day CEI/supported conference ”From arbitration legislation reform to enhancing the business climate” held in Skopje, North Macedonia.

On 1-3 April 2019, CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione and a delegation of the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES), including Alternate Secretary General Antal Nikoletti, Deputy Secretary General Zoran Jovanovic and senior officers, visited Poland and Belarus, and had meetings with high government officials of the two countries.
The meeting of the General Committee on Cultural Affairs of the CEI Parliamentary Dimension was held in Budapest on 29 March, under the leadership of Mr. Richard Horcsik, Chairperson of the Committee and Head of the Hungarian Delegation to the CEI Parliamentary Dimension.
