UNGA adopts resolution on cooperation between United Nations and Central European Initiative

On 21 November 2022 the UN General Assembly, recalling its resolution 66/111 of 9 December 2011 by which it granted observer status to the CEI, adopted the Resolution on Cooperation between the United Nations and the Central European Initiative by a recorded vote of 102 countries in favour to 5 against with 28 abstained. This was the first time a Resolution was put to vote (previous resolutions were consensus-based), since, among other issues, the document reflects the consequences of the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Discussing ways of boosting cooperation within CEI Local Dimension at Council of Europe

On 25 March 2022, the CEI Member States decided to suspend the Republic of Belarus of its rights of representation in the CEI, as a consequence of the country's actions in support of the aggression against Ukraine.

Humanitarian contribution of CEI to people of Ukraine

In response to the extremely dire and worrying humanitarian emergency in Ukraine, a CEI Member State, the CEI has decided to provide support to the people, affected by the conflict in Ukraine, through a humanitarian contribution of 80,000 EUR to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
