The International Workshop “Cultural Routes of the Olive Tree”,a model for Europe’s values, heritage and sustainable development, was held on 14-16 November 2018 on the island of Mali Losinj, Croatia.

The Central European Initiative (CEI) and the South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), in special partnership with the Media Program South East Europe of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), have announced the winners of the “CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism 2018”: Stevan Dojčinović and Dragana Pećo (Serbia) in the section “Professional Journalists” and Nino Bilajac (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in the section “Young Professional Journalists”.
On 12 November, the CEI Executive Secretariat hosted the first dissemination and presentation event, open to the public, regarding the Interreg ADRION project Inter-Connect, as well as the roundtable on strategies of cross-border and intermodal connectivity, a topic addressed by the Interreg Central Europe project CONNECT2CE.
In the framework of the CEI's with the OSCE, a two-day connectivity meeting was organised in Tirana on 8-9 November 2018 by the OSCE Secretariat focusing on “Building the skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

The Festival Identity meeting took place on 27-29 October 2018 in the framework of the 22nd Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.  The event confirmed its uniqueness in diversity. It brought together both renowned and new festivals, festival directors as well as more junior members of the festival teams.

The CEI – Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) hosted the Steering Committee Meeting of the EU-funded project COME-IN! in Trieste, on 6-7 November 2018.
In the framework of the CEMAN-Central European Music Academies Network, established in 2016 under the initiative of the Trieste Conservatory of Music G. Tartini in cooperation with the CEI, the cross-border CEMAN Orchestra was created with the aim of promoting talented young musicians giving them the chance to share professional experience and participate in international music events.
Representatives of CSOs within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and the CEI Member States, met in Sofia on 15 – 16 October 2018 to take part in the debate of the 5th Danube Participation Day, on 17 October and the 7th Annual Forum of the Danube Strategy on 18-19 October under the Bulgarian Presidency.
From 24 to 26 October, the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS) hosted the meeting of the Thinktank platform on urban logistics issues, combined with the 5th Consortium meeting of the SULPITER project.

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Culture, organised the international conference “Underwater Cultural Heritage in Europe Today” in Zadar, Croatia on 25-27 October 2018.
The CEI Committee of National Coordinators has recently approved the financing of three technical cooperation projects by the CEI Fund at the EBRD entirely funded by the Italian Government.
The second capacity-building workshop of the WASTEOILFREE project (Integrated Waste-oils Management System. Transfer of Best Practices for Safe, Sustainable and Eco-friendly Transport in Serbia) was held in Belgrade on 19 October 2018 at the Serbian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The International Forum, held in Udine, Italy on 19 October, provided a valuable platform for reflection and discussion among representatives from political, social, economic and cultural institutions as well as diplomats, politicians and academics from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The final conference of the capacity building project “Support for Strengthening Energy Regulatory Authorities in the Western Balkans” was held in Budva - Montenegro on 12 October gathering representatives from the beneficiary countries, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro, as well as from the European Commission, the Energy Community, and energy stakeholders.
The meeting of the General Committee on Economic Affairs of the CEI Parliamentary Dimension took place on 25 September gathering delegations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
The fifth Committee of National Coordinators’ meeting, under the Croatian CEI Presidency, took place at the CEI Headquarters in Trieste on 4 October 2018.
On 28 September and 3 October, three “Blue labs” were organised in Trieste and Monfalcone for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which are active in traditional and emerging sectors of Blue Economy in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region.
On the occasion of the Committee of National Coordinators’ meeting in Trieste on 4 October, the CEI- Executive Secretariat (CEI) organised a visit to the Scientific Centres based in Trieste.
On 30 September- 2 October, the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) participated in the second edition of the World Summit on Accessible Tourism in Brussels as lead partner of the COME-IN! project, which aims at increasing the capacity of small and medium-sized museums by making them accessible to all.
