A delegation of the CEI-Executive Secretariat, led by Secretary General Roberto Antonione, visited Sofia today for consultations on the priorities and programme of this year’s Bulgarian CEI Presidency.
Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska confirmed her country's commitment to the CEI stating that the Bulgarian Presidency would do its utmost to build on the CEI’s core goals. In this regard, she highlighted the priorities of the Presidency with connectivity, recovery and local development in the limelight, as well as youth both through a dedicated event and as a common denominator among the priorities.
The Secretary General welcomed the programme established by the Bulgarian Presidency, which largely reflects the interests of the entire region, especially with regard to the future of young people. He underlined that by “working together in synergy on the implementation of the Presidency Programme we can make the CEI an ever more trusted instrument”.
The Bulgarian Presidency also envisages intensified cooperation among the parliaments of the CEI countries, and in this regard, a constructive meeting was also held with the Parliamentary Delegation.
Last but not least, a meeting took place with the institutions involved in the activities throughout the year including presentations of the envisaged topics and organisational modalities.
The CEI - Executive Secretariat, among other things, provided information on current and upcoming steps regarding tangible cooperation and flow of information for a successful outcome of the Presidency.
