The Inter-Ministerial Conference on Labour Migration was held in Belgrade on 6 - 7, November 2025, under the Serbian CEI Presidency. The conference focused on "Regular Pathways and Sustainable Labour Markets," brought together ministers and experts to discuss international instruments, fair labour mobility, and the challenges of managing labour migration in Central and Eastern Europe.

Italy through the CEI Fund at the EBRD is supporting the Know-how Exchange Programme project “CEI Support to Technology Transfer for Hospitals in Albania and North Macedonia (ALBAU-TT-CRO)”.

The CEI took part in the 25th Anniversary of the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI), celebrated in Sarajevo on 6–7 November 2025.

On 23 October 2025, the third edition of “Viva Marga – Margherita Hack e la Luna” competition opened in Gorizia celebrating the legacy of the renowned Italian astrophysicist and her pioneering role in opening the world of science to women and younger generations.

From 9 to 12 October 2025, the Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors Lab brought together 30 Ambassadors in Brașov, Romania, to exchange ideas on Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and EU accession.

Yesterday, on 23 October 2025, our Deputy Secretary General Ivana Pejović, participated in the CEI Forum, titled “The Local Dimension of the CEI: Strengthening Platforms for Local and Regional Authorities in Europe”, held in Belgrade under the Serbian Presidency.

The partners of the GreenPATH project gathered in Osijek, Croatia on 21–22 October 2025 for their 4th Steering Committee meeting, a two-day event hosted by the city of Osijek, project partner, that brought together experts and local representatives from across Central Europe.

Representatives from ports and universities to European institutions, regional authorities, training centres, and research organisations gathered in Trieste on 16 October 2025, at the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Government Building (Italy) to attend the workshop “Green and Smart Ports: Shaping the Future of Green Transition and Skills Development in the Adriatic-Ionian Region”.

On 8-9 October, the CEI – Executive Secretariat participated in the 10th Council of Europe’s Conference of Ministers responsible for Youth, held in La Valletta under the theme “Young People for Democracy: Youth Perspectives in Action”.

As Albania and Serbia continue on their path towards EU membership, strengthening sustainable urban governance is both a development priority and a strategic necessity. Local institutions play a central role in this process but often struggle to align their practices with European standards due to capacity gaps.

The 2025 Ambrela Development Forum in Bratislava (Slovakia) on 16 October 2025 brought together representatives from government, EU institutions, international organisations, civil society, and the private sector to discuss coordinated responses to humanitarian and development challenges in CEI countries and beyond.

The meeting of the CEI Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) took place in Trieste on 15 October 2025 under the current Serbian CEI Presidency.

On 14 October 2025, Ambassador Alfredo Durante Mangoni was received at the CEI headquarters in Trieste by Secretary General Franco Dal Mas and members of the Secretariat.

On 7 October the CEI attended the third CAREGIVER DAY FVG organised by the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) to recognise and give value to people who care for their relatives and fragile people. This year’s edition focused on innovation and economic impact of care.  

Yesterday, the project 'Resilience and Preservation: Security, Migration and Cultural Heritage Protection in Ukraine” kicked off at the University of Trieste's Gorizia campus with the Italian–Ukrainian Students' Joint Workshop, “Upheaval in Ukraine: The Destruction of Cultural Heritage in the Ukraine Conflict”.
