DSG Király contributes to discussions on Western Balkans economic integration in Budva

On 30 September–1 October 2026, CEI Deputy Secretary General Zsuzsanna Király took part in the International Conference “Advancing Western Balkans Economic Integration”, held in Budva, Montenegro, under the Montenegrin Presidency of the Berlin Process.

The two-day event brought together regional and international stakeholders to discuss ways to accelerate the economic convergence of the Western Balkans (WB6) and advance their integration into the European Union. Particular attention was devoted to the development of the Common Regional Market, the removal of cross-border trade barriers, and the strengthening of industrial transformation and regional competitiveness.

In this context, discussions highlighted the importance of closer regional economic cooperation in preparing the Western Balkans for fuller participation in the EU Single Market and in translating the European integration process into tangible opportunities for businesses and citizens.

Alongside the conference, DSG Király participated in the high-level meeting of the WB6 Chamber Investment Forum (CIF), which focused on progress in implementing the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, addressing non-tariff barriers to trade, and strengthening regional value chains.

The meetings in Budva also provided an opportunity for exchanges with representatives of regional institutions, the business community and international partners on areas of common interest. The CEI will continue to support stronger regional cooperation and economic connectivity in the Western Balkans as key elements of the region’s European integration and of the broader process of European reunification.
