On 18 September, the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (Venice) hosted the 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the project SECNET (Cross-border institutional cooperation for Port Security Enhancement) funded under the Interreg Cross-border Programme Italy-Slovenia.
The Straniak Academy for Democracy and Human Rights, established by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights, took place in Saranda, Albania from 2 -15 September 2018.
The fifth edition of the “Danube: Future Interdisciplinary School” took place at the University of Ruse, Bulgaria, between 9 and 16 September.
On 12 September 2018, the CEI-Executive Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) of South-Eastern Europe aimed at promoting effective regional cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development.
This year, over 70 participants from 30 countries have gathered in Bled, Slovenia, on 7-11 September, to attend the Young Bled Strategic Forum and the Bled Strategic Forum. 
Promoted by the Trieste Contemporanea Committee, the International Design Contest is aimed at displaying the most original expressions of design from the CEI countries as well as from the Baltic countries, Germany and Turkey. 
The CEI Secretariat, in its capacity as lead partner of the EU-funded project COME-IN! (Cooperating for open access to museums towards a wider inclusion), had the opportunity to present the project to the representatives of the Ministries of Finance from EU Member States.
In the framework of the pilot project YDEAS (Young Developers and Entrepreneurs to Advance Start-ups in the Western Balkans), the Italian 2018 OSCE Chairmanship sponsored a Scholarship Programme which allowed 18 young people from the Western Balkans to attend the European Innovation Academy 2018, which took place in Turin, Italy between 8 and 27 July.
As a lead partner of the project COME-IN! the CEI has been invited to present the project COME-IN! achievements to a closed group of policy makers from the Ministries of the Finance of EU Member States and the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg Central Europe Programme in Vienna on 6 September at the Kunshistorisches Museum (KHM).
On 30 July 2018, the 1st local roundtable of the Inter-Connect project was organised by the Central European Initiative – Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES), at its premises in Trieste.
On 24 July, the CEI Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) hosted the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of the NAMIRG project (North Adriatic Maritime Incident Response Group), financed by DG ECHO.
On 16-18 July, the Apulia Region hosted the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of the BLUE_BOOST project in Giovinazzo (BA) and organised the project’s 1st transnational Cross-Field Visit for delegations from 7 maritime territories in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
The 2nd 4helix+ Project Steering Committee meeting - held at the premises of the Portuguese project partner in Lisbon on 3-4 July - addressed in detail the upcoming project events and activities, namely the 4helix+ Blue Bootcamps, Regional Info Days, and Transbrokerage Event.

The 3rd LAB for European Project Making cycle took place in Rijeka, Croatia on 30 June - 8 July. It represented an educational cycle for cultural workers, especially cultural managers and producers, wishing to strengthen their managerial skills in implementing large-scale international projects.

On 3-4 July, the Port of Luka Koper hosted the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of the ADRIPASS project, financed by ERDF and IPA funds under the Interreg ADRION Programme.
The second thematic conference “The inclusive museum - State of the art & perspectives” organised in the framework of the EU project “COME-IN!” project where the CEI acts as Lead Partner, took place on 26 June 2018 at the Monastery of St. Augustine in Erfurt, Germany.
As a lead partner of the “COME-IN!” project for the accessibility of Museums, the CEI actively took part in the launch of the new exhibition of the Museum of Prehistory and Protohistory of Thuringia in Weimar (Germany) on 27 June.
On the occasion of the meeting of the jury of the CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism, held in Trieste on 29 June, the CEI Secretariat - in cooperation with the news agency ANSA - organised a open panel discussion on the media in South East Europe.
On 12-13 June, the Institute for Transports and Logistics (ITL) and the Region of Emilia-Romagna (RER) hosted the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of INTER-CONNECT (Intermodality Promotion and Rail Renaissance in Adriatic – Ionian Region), financed under the Interreg ADRION Programme and the ERDF and IPAII funds.

The Heritage First Aid-HEFA project was launched on 20 June at the National Historical Museum of Tirana, Albania. This Museum is affiliated with the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Albania and exhibits artworks from prehistoric to more recent times. All the existing materials are preserved in exhibition spaces or in the museum’s store.
