The partners of the CEI-led FORTIS project have recently finalised a study examining public passenger transport and intermodality in the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia. The research provides measures for improving integration of passenger movements in the area; it analysis the area and the transport flow hubs based on an assessment of the current regional and cross-border public transport (road, rail and maritime connections) in the region between the two countries.
The study outcomes include strategic priorities to enhance cross-border connectivity in public transport, providing further inputs to the project for the implementation of tangible pilot actions and for the involvement of policy makers.
The CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) will use these results for the delivery of a case study for the promotion of integrated cross-border tickets between Italy and Slovenia including services such as urban transport daily tickets, intermodal solutions, discounts, park & ride options.
