Free online psychotherapy clinic set up in Bulgaria

The initiative of the Bulgarian Society of Group Analysis and Group Processes Kabinet.bg has set up a virtual outpatient clinic for free emergency psychotherapy and emotional support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The six-month project - that has benefitted from the CEI’s support under the COVID-19 Extraordinary Call – has achieved the creation of a fully-functioning psychotherapy platform at a significantly lower price compared to similar software options.

The team of 26-strong psychotherapists, social workers, and advanced trainees treated on average 70 users per week and was engaged with about 2,500 telephone hotline conversations with people in need, at great risk, or unable to afford such services.

They provided individual, family, group psychotherapy and psycho-social support to residents of Bulgaria, or migrants living abroad, particularly affected by the quarantine and isolation such as medical personnel at pandemic frontlines, people with coronavirus and their families, minorities and other vulnerable groups, women suffering from domestic violence, youngsters, elder people, people at risk due to other chronic diseases.

In this regard, their goal was not only to provide instant mental support but also to enhance the long-term personal growth and wellbeing of persons in need.
