GRETA final conference highlights achievements in sustainable urban freight solutions

On 18 February 2026, GRETA partners convened in Bologna for the project's concluding conference to present the outcomes achieved over a three-year period of regional collaboration. The event was organised in the framework of the Urban Mobility and Logistics Conference held in Bologna, Italy.

The CEI organised a dedicated session focusing on the outcomes of pilot actions implemented in Budapest, Maribor, Poznań, Reggio Emilia and Verona to address the challenges of freight deliveries in city centres. The rapid growth of e-commerce has had a considerable impact on urban freight transport, contributing to increased emissions, congestion and noise levels.

In order to mitigate these impacts, project partners tested innovative solutions such as improved curbside management, the establishment of micro-hubs and last-mile deliveries using green vehicles. These measures were implemented with the aim of enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of urban logistics systems.

Partners emphasised the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation and multi-stakeholder engagement in ensuring sustainable urban freight transport. They also expressed a strong commitment to transferring the GRETA experience and strategies to other European cities.

The project was funded by the Interreg Central Europe Programme, which supports transnational and regional cooperation as a key instrument to address shared challenges and develop sustainable solutions for communities across the region.
