The ageing population and increasing number of elderly people living in isolated conditions call for new strategies and a renewed political commitment. For this reason, the World Health Organisation has developed the concept of sustainable and age-friendly environments (AFE), paving the way for an integrated approach to improve the quality of social and physical environments and promote active ageing.
To respond to this challenge, 10 project partners from 5 European countries and key stakeholders joined forces in the Interreg European project T.A.A.F.E. - Towards Alpine Age-Friendly Environment - co-funded by the Alpine Space Programme, by developing a new participatory model for the design of services supporting local policies with the active involvement of the elderly population.
The CEI - Executive Secretariat is responsible for the evaluation of the 5 pilot actions implemented within T.A.A.F.E. and - together with key regional stakeholders - is organising this meeting to contribute to the development of an evaluation model supporting age-friendly environments and healthy and active ageing.
The results of three different projects involving the CEI Region and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in Italy will be taken into account:
- T.A.A.F.E.
- ASTAHG - Alpine Space Transnational Governance of Active and Healthy Ageing
- ACSELL - ACcelerating SmE innovation capacities with a Living Lab approach
