CEI participates in Council of Europe Youth intergovernmental meetings in Budapest

From 23 to 26 March 2026, the CEI Secretariat attended the meetings of the Council of Europe Youth statutory bodies held in Budapest, notably the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ) and the Joint Council on Youth (CMJ).

Both committees - the former comprising representatives of governments, the latter comprising both representatives of governments and youth organisations - set their key priorities for the youth sector in 2026. Discussions focused on youth participation, in particular through the integration of the youth perspective at different levels of governance, renewed democratic engagement and the implementation of ongoing activities within the Council of Europe youth agenda.

The meetings also provided an opportunity to exchange views on current challenges affecting young people across Europe and to reflect on future directions of youth policy in a rapidly evolving context.

The CEI participated in its capacity as Observer to both the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ) and the Joint Council on Youth (CMJ), reaffirming its commitment to fostering youth engagement, supporting policy dialogue and strengthening cooperation with regional and international partners.

Through its continued participation in these platforms, the CEI enhances its institutional cooperation with the Council of Europe and promotes shared approaches to empowering young people across the region.
