On 24 March 2026, CEI’s Secretary General Franco Dal Mas has been awarded the “Filo di Seta” Prize by the Fondazione Cinzia Vitale during the Gran Galà di Primavera held in Trieste.
The award recognises individuals who have made a significant contribution to cultural dialogue, social development and international cooperation, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to promoting interdisciplinary exchange and civic engagement.
In awarding the prize, the Foundation highlighted Dal Mas’ commitment to fostering European unity and his role in advancing multilateral dialogue across Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, with particular attention to Ukraine in the current geopolitical context.
According to the jury’s motivation, the recognition honours his efforts in:
Supporting European unification and promoting multilateral dialogue among Central, Eastern and South-Eastern European countries, with a particular focus on Ukraine, as well as his commitment to strengthening relations among States and enhancing the international visibility and geopolitical role of the city of Trieste.
The award also acknowledges the broader contribution of the CEI Executive Secretariat in facilitating dialogue and cooperation among its Member States, reinforcing the Organisation's mission to promote regional cohesion and support European integration.
The Fondazione Cinzia Vitale, based in Trieste, is actively engaged in promoting cultural dialogue, research and social initiatives, with a strong focus on international cooperation and the Central and Eastern European region.
