TREASURE Project: workshop on improving environmental conditions in and around Mediterranean ports

Start date
Location
Piraeus (Greece)

Improving environmental quality in and around Mediterranean port areas by mitigating and reducing sediment and water pollution is a shared priority across the Euro-MED region and other European sea basins. In this context, the TREASURE project, co-financed by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, is committed not only to disseminating its tested solutions and lessons learned, but also to strengthening capitalisation, clustering and cooperation with other EU-funded projects addressing complementary challenges.

Building on the project’s key results, TREASURE partners have developed a Transferability and Engagement Plan aimed at sharing practical, evidence-based tools and governance models to support ports and coastal administrations in improving water and sediment quality. A central objective of this plan is to create synergies with other European initiatives, promoting coordinated approaches, mutual learning and joint upscaling of results.

To this end, the CEI-ES is organising the 1st TREASURE Workshop where specific tools and governance model to support ports and coastal administration in improving water and sediment quality will be presented.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about innovative solutions developed and tested within the TREASURE project to improve environmental performance in port areas;
  • Exchange results, methodologies and lessons learned with other EU-funded projects working on related environmental, technical and governance issues;
  • Explore governance models and decision-making tools supporting sustainable coastal and port management;
  • Identify opportunities for capitalisation, clustering, joint dissemination and future cooperation;
  • Take part in a study visit to the Port of Piraeus, offering direct insight into the local port context and applied solutions.

The participation in the workshop is free of charge but registration is necessary.
