The CEMAN Orchestra's 2025 Summer Tour, performed in July 19-25, has come to an end. Thirty young musicians from eight countries, that are members of the CEI, came to the stage, i.e. Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and Italy.
The best of these countries' musical youth performed music by Mozart, Sibelius and Britten in three separate concerts held at the Manor House in Radovljica (Slovenia), at Piazza Verdi in Trieste, and at the Mittelfest in Cividale. There was also the solo participation of pianist Uglješa Brkljač and Conductor Andrej Bursać, both designated by the Novi Sad Academy. Indeed, in keeping with tradition, the orchestra’s conductor is appointed by the country that holds the CEI Presidency.
In fact, the CEMAN (Central European Music Academies Network) was launched in 2016 by the Tartini Conservatory of Music in Trieste, with the support of the CEI Cooperation Fund and the Italian Ministry of University and Research to bring together the young musical excellences of the CEI region giving them the chance to share professional experience and participate in international music events.
Academies of great musical tradition collaborate in the project, from Belgrade to Banja Luka, Bologna, Bratislava, Bucharest, Budapest, Cetinje, Chisinău, Kiev, Novi Sad, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Sofia, Tirana, Trieste, Udine and Zagreb.
In the framework of the network, the cross-border CEMAN Orchestra debuted in 2018 in Zagreb and has since performed successfully at prestigious international venues.
Since its inception, the CEI has proudly supported this remarkable project fostering cross-cultural dialogue and mutual understanding through music.
