Visit from President of Austrian Chamber of Commerce

Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by a delegation of about 60 prominent businesspersons from Austria, visited the CEI Headquarters on 23 May.

The delegation was welcomed by Amb. Margot Klestil-Loeffler, CEI Alternate Secretary General, who illustrated the mandate and mission of the Organisation, of which together with Italy, Hungary and the former Yugoslavia, Austria is a founding member.

Since the very beginning Austria - apart from Italy, which is the main sponsor - has been a very active member of the Initiative, contributing significantly to its functioning. Amb. Klestil-Loeffler also presented the CEI funds and programmes, in particular the CEI Fund at the EBRD, established and fully financed by the Italian Government, thanks to which the CEI has been able to develop a strong project-oriented approach next to its political dimension.

Out of this Fund the Italian Government has so far contributed 43.5 million EUR of which 26.5 to Technical Cooperation projects and about 2.5 million to the Know-how Exchange Programme to which also Austria has committed almost 1 million EUR since 2008 through the Austrian Development Agency.
