The CEI, together with the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Trieste, has officially assumed the chairmanship of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance (EUSDA) for the 2025–2026 term. This follows the successful 2024–2025 term led by AVRIST (Association pour la Valorisation des Relations Internationales Scientifiques et Techniques).
During its co-chairmanship, the CEI will contribute to shaping a common vision for science diplomacy in Europe, at a pivotal moment marked by the forthcoming adoption of the European Framework for Science Diplomacy.
In line with Goal 2.10 of the CEI Plan of Action 2024–2026, the CEI will promote the engagement of stakeholders from Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe in the evolving science diplomacy discourse. A key focus will be on fostering vibrant science diplomacy communities across its Member States, especially within EU candidate countries in the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe.
Additionally, the CEI will actively support the training of future science diplomats in the region. This includes dedicated initiatives such as the Advanced training course “Challenges and Perspectives of Science Diplomacy in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe”, scheduled to take place in Trieste and Gorizia (Italy) from 25 to 28 November 2025.
