The Horizon Europe project STRONGBIONET (Strengthening and Connecting Bioeconomy Networks) has reecently officially launched with a kick-off meeting held in Seville, Spain, bringing together 19 partner organisations from 14 European countries.
Over the next 36 months, the project will strengthen collaboration across Europe's bioeconomy ecosystem by connecting existing networks and fostering knowledge exchange among stakeholders from research, industry, policymaking, education, finance and civil society. Through its "network of networks" approach, STRONGBIONET aims to unlock new opportunities for cooperation, innovation and capacity building, contributing to a more sustainable and competitive European bioeconomy.
A key project outcome will be the creation of a digital collaboration platform serving as a central hub for networking, education, investor engagement and science-policy dialogue. The project will also establish thematic Communities of Practice, support training activities and strengthen links between innovators, investors and policymakers.
Funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme, STRONGBIONET is coordinated by SPRING – Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster and runs from June 2026 to May 2029 with a total budget of €4.4 million.
