SG Antonione meets with Bosnian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konaković

Today, at the margins of the event “Mid-term Evaluation of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in AII member states”, held in Banja Luka, (Bosnia and Herzegovina), CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković.

The interlocutors focused their discussions on the role regional cooperation plays for European integration, in particular, in supporting the EU-candidate countries. With the recent granting of the EU candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, all CEI non-EU countries are now candidates, and are, thus, involved in the enlargement process. In this regard, they highlighted the need to further the process, agreeing on the relevance the CEI could have in making a change.

In particular, Secretary General Antonione presented the recent activities and commitments of the CEI, also anticipating future plans concerning tangible actions and events. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konaković confirmed his country’s commitment towards the enlargement process, underlining the importance of the CEI’s role in engaging on topical issues for the countries concerned with the process, and thanking, in this regard, for its assistance.
