The CEI-ES organised a transnational training in Brussels on 13 February under the title “Enhancing planning capacities of passenger transport systems in Central Europe”.
The event - hosted by the Presidency of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia - was held in the framework of the project CONNECT2CE (Improved rail connections and smart mobility in Central Europe) funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme.
CONNECT2CE aims at tackling the weak accessibility of regional, peripheral and cross-border areas of Central Europe to and from the main regional, national and EU transport networks and hubs, caused by the long-lasting phenomenon of urbanisation.
The training witnessed the participation of keynote speakers who presented their direct experience and up-to-date overview on three main themes, i.e. the improvement of regional/cross-border railway and PT connections, multimodal integrated tariffs and ticketing and info mobility systems.
More than 30 people attended the training generating very interesting discussions on the topics and feedback from participants aimed at developing transnational tools for fostering regional and cross-border passenger transport in the Central Europe area.
On 14 February, the project partners also gathered for their Consortium Meeting, where they exchanged views on the following steps to be taken during the upcoming period of the project, that will encompass the start-up activities related to Pilot Project implementation, which is the core activity of the project.
