KEP project SAFEMEAT: final event held in Leskovac

In the framework of the 13th Symposium “Novel Technologies and economic development”, the final event of the SAFEMEAT project was organised in Leskovac (Serbia) on 18 October by the Faculty of Technology in Leskovac, University of Niš, Serbia.

The meeting aimed at presenting latest research results of the young domestic and foreign researchers and scientific workers in order to promote science and novel technologies.

The core event related to the SAFEMEAT project within the Symposium was a round table on “Optical technology for quality and safety in the meat industry”.

One of the main challenges the Serbian meat industry is currently facing is spoilage during storage due to microorganisms. The aim of the SAFEMEAT project is to raise awareness and enhance know-how related to meat quality and safety control in research institutions that could be applied to Serbian SMEs operating in the meat industry.

Project beneficiaries had the opportunity to benefit from a set of training modules related to the meat supply chain as well as to use innovative spectroscopic devices oriented at assessing support needs and at enhancing technical capabilities.

The project SAFEMEAT - was implemented by the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnologies, National Research Council in Italy as know-how provider. It was supported under the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme through the CEI Fund at the EBRD with 37,000 EUR.
