A new Know-how Exchange Programme (KEP) project financed by Italy through the CEI Fund at the EBRD and titled CEI for Ukraine’s Future. Empowering Ukrainian Municipalities through Polish Expertise in Fund Management and Project Practices for Pre-Accession Readiness of Ukraine has commenced in March this year.
The project focuses on enhancing the capacity of local authorities, particularly in rural and peripheral regions, providing training to local government officials as the country advances in its EU accession process.
Overall, the project will foster institutional and economic development in Ukraine while strengthening Ukraine’s path toward full EU integration
Ukrainian officials will be provided with essential skills in managing EU and international projects. A comprehensive training programme will cover the full project cycle, including needs assessment, implementation, and evaluation. A total of 100 local officials from 20 municipalities will be recruited to participate in seven webinars on crucial aspects of project management. Under expert guidance, participants will develop their project proposals.
The KEP project is led by the Leaders of Change Foundation, base in Poland, in cooperation with the Podil Agency for Regional Development based in Ukraine. In this framework, study visits to Polish municipalities with extensive experience in EU-funded projects will offer Ukrainian officials’ first-hand exposure to best practices, workshops on project management, and networking opportunities with local authorities.
The recruitment process of local government representatives wishing to join the initiative has been launched and will remain open until March 28, 2025.
