On 7 March, the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Majlinda Bregu, visited the CEI-Executive Secretariat in Trieste, where she met with CEI Secretary General, Roberto Antonione and representatives of the Secretariat.
SG Antonione and SG Bregu discussed envisaged future activities and areas of intervention of both the CEI and the RCC and for the benefit of the Western Balkan region, with the aim of exploring possibilities for synergies and further cooperation between both Organisations.
CEI and RCC delegations stressed the importance of tangible activities with regard to the promotion of regional cooperation and good-neighbourly relations, in particular through capacity building, youth policies, trade, digitalisation and people-to-people contacts. The importance of local authorities in this regard was also highlighted.
SG Antonione and SG Bregu agreed that regional cooperation was an essential tool to facilitate political dialogue and improve citizens’ lives, and expressed the readiness of both secretariats to cooperate towards these objectives identifying possible joint areas of action.
