CEI-PD Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk on digital technologies for ensuring geopolitical security

The Meeting of the CEI-PD Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk on 28 November was held under the leadership of Irina Starovoitova, Chairperson of the CEI PD, and Head of the Parliamentary Delegation of Belarus and attended by national parliamentary delegations from Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and Serbia. The participants witnessed an exchange of views on "Digital Technologies In Terms Of Ensuring Geopolitical Security".
 
As outlined in the Final Declaration adopted at the end of the gathering, the Parliamentary Assembly in particular
[…] Supports all measures aimed at taking into account the interests of CEI Member States when developing and implementing approaches to ensure geopolitical security; […] Calls upon all CEI Member States and their national parliaments to contribute to the creation of the necessary legal framework for enhancing data processing standards and the interaction of national regulatory authorities on digital market; Particularly emphasizes the need for assistance of CEI Member States development of safe cross-border electronic services, compatible paperless trading systems, electronic trading platforms and, for this purpose, closer links with international financial organizations; Calls for harmonization of trade-related standards, translation of procedures and services into digital format, support for entrepreneurship and innovation along the route of major transport corridors; Welcomes efforts to coordinate policy and the actions of the CEI, EU institutions, the Eastern Partnership and other international organizations to maintain economic and political stability, the development of innovation and digital technologies and ensure geopolitical security; Encourages the active use of the latest communication tools for the development of electronic international trade to create a digital economy, as well as the necessary European agreed tools to ensure that products and services in the digital world are safe to use; […]
