On 7 October the CEI attended the third CAREGIVER DAY FVG organised by the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) to recognise and give value to people who care for their relatives and fragile people. This year’s edition focused on innovation and economic impact of care.
Innovative and digital tools, support platforms, community-based services and training can help caregivers in their daily care management.
In this framework, ISRAA the Lead Partner of the PROCAREFUL project, funded under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE, provided the latest outcomes of the hybrid model of care, aimed at preventing cognitive and physical decline through a pro-active approach towards prevention and active participation in social life. The analysis of the testing process will be provided by the CEI in the coming months with the aim of defining further strategies for its wider adoption in other Central European countries.
The economic impact of care should be considered along with the public investment in long-term care as it represents an important invisible benefit for people in need of assistance. As the demographic trend of ageing will continue to grow, the older population will need more assistance. Hence, further investment in prevention to ensure healthier ageing and therefore less people will access hospitals or emergency rooms. At the same time ensuring major funds for long-term care will contribute to the same reduction of inappropriate use of health services.
