Upon invitation by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat, the CEI-Executive Secretariat attended the Sixth Meeting of the SEE 2030 Strategy Monitoring Committee, held in Belgrade on 5 December 2024, and presented the CEI activities in relation to the UN 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.
In this regard, Lidija Arsova, following the Governmental Dimension within the CEI-Executive Secretariat, including the cooperation with the UN and other international and regional intergovernmental organisations, provided an extensive presentation about the CEI's commitment to sustainable development in general, and to the UN 2030 Agenda in particular, since the adoption of the latter. She explained how the CEI had aligned the SDGs in its Plan of Action, and how it was mapping the projects and activities through its Annual Report. She presented the various initiatives at institutional level, including stocktaking events, joint statements, and others. Finally, she provided insights into the implemented and ongoing regional CEI projects and activities in 2024 in relation to each of the SDGs.
Other items on the Committee's agenda included reflections by the SEE economies on further strategic directions and priorities in the implementation and monitoring of the SEE 2030 Strategy, in particular in relation to the SDGs.
Indeed, as the main governance body of the SEE2030 Strategy, adopted at the SEECP Summit in 2021, the Monitoring Committee meetings provide a platform for reviewing the annual implementation of the strategy and gathering strategic guidance from stakeholders.
