In the framework of the 39th Vilenica International Literary Festival, taking place on 2-7 September 2024 in Lipica and other venues in Slovenia, the CEI Award for Young Writers 2024 will be presented to Monika Herceg from Croatia. The awarding ceremony will be held on 3 September, in Ljubljana, at Cankarjev dom, at 8 pm, followed by the CEI Literary Round Table bringing together the authors Vuk Ćosić, Simon Krek, Dušan Šarotar, Jernej Županič and Monika Herceg

The Festival, organised annually by the Slovene Writers’ Association, offers numerous literary and cultural events, such as round-table discussions, literary readings, presentations of contemporary literatures and literary publications. The motto of this year’s Festival is “Icarus 2.0” dedicated to artificial intelligence.

The programme traditionally envisages an event in Trieste which, this year, will take place on 4 September, at Caffè San Marco (at 5 pm) with a conversation and literary readings by Monika Herceg, Miljenko Jergović (Croatia/Bosnia and Herzegovina), recipient of the Vilenica Award 2024, and Paolo Rumiz.
