TREASURE: Second project meeting in Valencia

On 15 -16 October in Valencia, the CEI-Executive Secretariat attended the second project meeting of the TREASURE project, organised in Valencia by the Fundacion Valenciaport.

Representatives of all partners attended and engaged in two days of active discussions on the progress of activities under implementation and on those to be initiated in the upcoming months.

On day one, the main focus was on finalising the Impact Evaluation and Hazard Management matrix by December, as well as addressing governance aspects: the project Lead Partner, ASEV, oversees the second Work Package, dedicated to the implementation of mini-labs for an integrated monitoring approach to environmental quality assessment. The project is currently in a crucial phase, with pilot port areas negotiating local protocols/agreements with relevant stakeholders and authorities, which have to be concluded within the end of the year.

Among the activities under implementation, significant importance is given, in this phase, to the call for expressions of interest for innovators and solution providers, launched in September and closing on 13 December. The project is seeking for innovative solutions for remediating to environmental pollution in port areas, which will be included in the TREASURE catalogue and tested afterwards.

During  day two, partners enjoyed a site visit of the Port of Valencia, including their environmental monitoring tools and development plans. The meeting concluded with a session dedicated to management and opportunities for amplifying results, offered by the Euro-MED Natural Heritage Mission.  A  representative introduced the Mission's perspectives and upcoming events.
