The GreenPATH project Steering Committee convened from 14 -16 October at the EUREF Campus in Berlin, a reference site and a symbol of the shift to renewable energy and sustainable mobility in Germany. Hosted by the project partner, Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), the meeting brought together the GreenPATH Consortium partners to review progress, align strategies, and plan the next stages of the project, which aims to provide sustainable commuting solutions in Functional Urban Areas (FUAs) across Central Europe.
The meeting opened with a welcome speech from Prof. Dr. Hans-Liudger Dienel of TUB, followed by an introduction from Andrea Bardi, General Director of the Institute for Transport and Logistics (ITL), the project's lead partner, who highlighted the interconnection between energy transition and sustainable transport solutions to improve the quality of life in our cities. Partners provided key project updates, including a review of Work Package 1 (WP1) and presentations on various methodologies and IT approaches supporting sustainable mobility strategies. A significant focus was placed on the collaborative approach to empower stakeholders through interviews and surveys aimed at shared, sustainable mobility.
The CEI-Executive Secretariat, in addition to managing communication activities, presented the state of play of the ongoing study carried out in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Associated partner and with the support of the Trieste Municipality. This study aims to analyse cross-border commuting flows between the bordering Slovenian municipalities and the Trieste city center, along the three main border crossing points (Fernetti, Pesek, and Rabuiese)
Additionally, the Consortium had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the EUREF Campus, led by Ms. Karin Teichmann, TUB's spokesperson for the management board. The tour provided insight into the campus's sustainable practices, reinforcing the project’s focus on integrating energy and mobility solutions.
The two-day meeting concluded with a Steering Committee session that reviewed deliverables, approved procedures and set the project's next steps.
This event proved essential in aligning the GreenPATH partners for the upcoming phases of the project, ensuring effective collaboration towards delivering sustainable commuting solutions across Central Europe. The next meeting is scheduled for early 2025.
