Committee of National Coordinators meet in Brussels

The second meeting of the Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) under the CEI Moldovan Presidency 2023 was held at the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union (EU) in Brussels on 20 April.

The meeting - also attended by representatives from the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), and the European External Action Service (EEAS) - focused on the state-of-the-art of the EU integration process and on the role regional cooperation played in this regard. In particular, the Member States praised the crucial decisions the EU had taken the previous year and shared their views on the impact of the process within the countries, and on the public opinion. As to regional cooperation, they agreed that regional organisations, including the CEI,  were crucial in keeping the process dynamic. Therefore, strengthening cooperation with the EU and its institutions, was especially underlined.

Countries also discussed how to further assist Ukraine; they focused on the utilisation of the CEI Cooperation Fund; and on cooperation with other organisations. In this setting, the Presidency announced that the next meeting of the Committee would be held at the  Permanent International Secretariat (PERMIS) of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) in Istanbul, preceded by a Troika Meeting in order to explore possibilities for direct cooperation with this organisation.
