FESTIVAL IDENTITY 2017: workshop for festival organisers across Europe

The Festival Identity meeting took place on 26-28 October in the framework of the 21st Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.

The event - gathering directors and programmers of documentary film festivals from all over Europe and beyond - included a  large number of CEI countries, offering a unique networking platform to share know-how and professional experiences.

The three-day meeting - opened by Marek Hovorka, Ji.hlava IDFF Director, and the Head of Industry, Jarmila Outratová – featured comprehensive discussions, workshops and presentations.

For the first time, the Festival Identity participants had the chance to attend some events at the newly launched educational Ji.hlava Academy, which is addressed to junior members of the festival teams who have been working in the field at least for two years and wish to gain more experience.

During the workshops led by experts, the participants debated the major perspectives about the role of European film festivals in the era of expanding VoD platfoms.

The event was attended by 30 festival representatives who had participated in the presentation of the 18 Emerging Producers 2018 at the public festival presentation “Festival Hub” and had the chance to network with the festival's hundreds industry guests on a number of social events.

The participants of the Festival Identity also represented the jury at the competition for the best film festival poster, which awarded the Beldocs  International Documentary Film Festival 2017.

This event was co-funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
