The KEP project “CEI support on EU Natural gas markets: fundamentals, regulatory frameworks and challenges for market integration and decarbonisation” is designed to train energy regulators from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Noth Macedonia on EU gas market regulations and promoting legislative harmonisation in the region.
Through four full-day workshops in the target countries, participants will explore key regulatory concepts, including gas hubs, balancing markets, tariffs, pipeline competition, infrastructure incentives, and decarbonisation policies. Seminars will involve experts from National Regulatory Agencies, associations, academics, and industry organisations, to share insights and experiences, and provide diverse perspectives. During the meetings, informal networking will be promoted through roundtable discussions, to encourage participants to share challenges and best practices, and to improve engagement.
The aim of the “Seminar on Regulation of Natural Gas Markets” is to provide participants with a thorough knowledge of the global and European natural gas markets, including supply and demand dynamics, price trends, recent developments, and roadmaps for market integration. Understanding the principles underlying wholesale gas trading is of vital importance to have a comprehensive view about the energy landscape, and particularly about the EU internal market. Gas markets can be highly volatile due to geopolitical factors, supply chain disruptions, and price fluctuations. Developing a knowledge on such dynamics is critical for regulators to design optimal frameworks for competitive markets, navigate price shocks, and ensure security of energy supplies.
