The second virtual meeting of the CEI-WHO discussing COVID-19 emergency comes on the heels of the launch of the newly-established Task Force (TF) which took place on 6 May 2020. The Task Force - comprised of key health experts appointed by the Ministries of Health and related institutions from CEI countries, CEI-ES staff members and representatives from the WHO regional office for Europe - works in tandem, through specific expertise, to respond to the challenges brought by the novel coronavirus and come up with tangible actions.
In this session, the participants will delve into key aspects of the transition strategy. As such, they will analyse criteria and indicators needed for a safe transition and ensure a speedy socio-economic recovery. Considering the vital role played by tourism in the CEI region, participants will also address issues of border management and the tourism sector. The health sector will also be a core session in this second gathering aimed at tackling potential opportunities for cross-border mobility of the health work-force and channeling the health budget for a stronger kick-start of the economic activities.
