A spokeswoman for the German Meteorological Service (DWD) told Deutsche Presse-Agentur that this threshold could be exceeded, particularly in the west and southwest. The previous June record high was 39.6 degrees Celsius, set on June 30, 2019, in Bernburg, Saxony-Anhalt. The heat will persist, particularly in the southern part of the country.
