(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 23 - Germany could break the June heat record on Friday, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. A spokeswoman for the German Meteorological Service (DWD) told Deutsche Presse-Agentur that this threshold could be exceeded, particularly in the west and southwest. The previous June record high was 39.6 degrees Celsius, set on June 30, 2019, in Bernburg, Saxony-Anhalt. The heat will persist, particularly in the southern part of the country. At the same time, the likelihood of forest fires is increasing. On Thursday, a level four out of five, indicating "high risk," is expected in much of the south. (ANSA).
