
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 22 - Between April and May of this year, petrol prices in 23 EU countries rose, with Italy experiencing the sharpest increase (+6.9%). This is supported by Eurostat data on fuel price trends. Overall, diesel prices rose by 29.0% and petrol by 16.2% in May compared to the same month in 2025. On a monthly basis, however, EU consumers saw diesel prices fall by 5.8% and petrol prices rise by 0.8% from April 2026. Diesel prices increased by 7.9% in April, while petrol prices rose by 2.4% from March of this year. Between April and May, diesel prices rose in Romania (+1.6%) but fell in the rest of the EU. Italy saw a 4% decrease. After Italy, Croatia and Hungary experienced the greatest increase in petrol prices (+0.1%). Germany (-5.6%), Ireland (-2.0%), and Sweden (-0.7%) all experienced declines in May compared to the previous month. (ANSA).
