AfD at 28%, CDU-CSU at 24% in Germany: Politbarometer

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 19 - In Germany, the Politbarometer shows the far-right's lead over Chancellor Friedrich Merz's conservatives growing. According to this week's survey, Alice Weidel's party has 28% (+1) support, while the CDU-CSU Union has 24%. The Social Democrats gain one point, climbing to 13%. The Greens drop two points to 12, while the Left Party remains at 11. The Liberals increase to four, remaining below the threshold for admission to the Bundestag. According to the most recent YouGov poll, the AfD leads the CDU by up to 9 points. These figures are being closely monitored, particularly in light of the upcoming regional elections in the east, where the AfD is gaining ground and its ability to take control of a state is no longer ruled out.
