The Port Authority of Trieste hosted the Kick off meeting of the project SECNET (Crossborder institutional cooperation for Port Security Enhancement) funded under the Interreg Crossborder Programme Italy-Slovenia on 12 October.
The gathering was attended by all project partners (Port Authority of Trieste, Koper and Venice, Central European Initiative Executive Secretariat, University of Trieste and Koper) eager to agree upon the first steps towards a successful project implementation. The port authority of Koper presented the joint methodology for the analysis of best practices in the field of cyber and port perimeter security, training, cross-border action plan and pilot actions. the Partners provided feedback and additional inputs to further shape the methodology.
The Venice port authority focused on the development of a common cross-border strategy to make sure project results are turned into long-term policies. This will be made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding.
Finally, the participants discussed the administrative matters and dissemination activities in order to inform also other ports and stakeholders in the area about the achievements of the project.
The next meeting is taking place in March.
