CEI KEP Italy: certification training for public accountants starts in Macedonia

The project “Public Accountants Certification Training” aims to improve public accounting capacities by introducing international accounting standards and best practices to up to 40 students in 2014-2015, with a possibility of extending the activities to 2015-2016. A training of three local trainers per module is also envisioned. The opening event took place on 18 September 2014 in Skopje.

The project is co-financed by the CEI Fund at the EBRD, entirely contributed by Italy, in the framework of the CEI Know-How Exchange Programme (KEP). Out of the total project cost of about 240,000 EUR, the approved CEI co-financing amounted to 40,000 EUR. Other financing has been provided by the World Bank, the Ministry of Finance of Macedonia and the Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF), which is also the know-how provider institution together with the Chartered Institute for Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

The current project builds upon progress already achieved during 2007-2011, when the CEI KEP co-financed the first phase of the Capacity Building in Public Accounting (CBIPA) programme in Macedonia, also in cooperation with the CEF and the CIPFA. Within the CBIPA, 25 attendees obtained certificates of successful completion.
