Opening “Trieste Science System” to scientific communities of CEI countries

The Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium  (C-ERIC) - a Project led by Synchrotron aimed at facilitating access of Scientific Communities of CEI Member States to the Synchrotron Radiation Laboratories (Elettra) and to the Free Electron Laser Laboratories (Fermi) - will be based in Trieste.

The initiative - a concrete example of research cooperation in the CEI Region - was fostered by the CEI in the context of its Science and Technology Network, aimed at opening the “Trieste Science System” to the scientific communities of CEI countries. In particular, the CEI contributed to facilitating relations between the participating countries of the Consortium and Synchrotron on the occasion of its Ministerial Meetings on Science and Technology in 2012 and 2013.

As announced by Prof. Rizzuto President of Synchrotron Elettra, in Nòva (supplement on Innovation and Technology of the newspaper “Sole 24 ore”), the international multi-disciplinary research center of excellence, specialising in the generation of synchrotron radiation and high-quality free electron laser, has unanimously been chosen as the seat of C-ERIC, because it attracts the best international researchers.

The nine participating countries - i.e. Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and Romania  - will provide the best research techniques and skills at the highest level of development.

Allegedly, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, will soon sign the formal act of incorporation of C-ERIC.
