On 24–25 June 2026, the 21st International DisCo Conference took place at Microsoft, Prague, under the theme “Future-Ready Skills: Cultivating Digital Fluency and Opportunity for Youth, Women, and Displaced Communities.” The conference brought together participants from fifteen countries, with a strong representation from CEI Member States.
The conference opened with keynote speeches and panel discussions addressing the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital and AI-driven world. Discussions focused on learner-centred training approaches, motivational diversity, and the role of democratic values and multi-stakeholder cooperation in shaping the future of education. Participants also explored multimodal learning ecosystems that connect formal education with broader learning environments, combining policy perspectives with practical applications.
By promoting dialogue among educators, researchers, policymakers and technology experts, DisCo 2026 has reaffirmed the importance of equipping citizens with the digital fluency and critical skills needed to thrive in rapidly evolving societies.
Interactive workshops demonstrated how emerging technologies, including augmented reality and digital twins, can enhance teaching and learning in higher education and vocational training. A highlight of the programme was the panel discussion “AI for All? Cultivating Digital Fluency Across Generations, Genders, and Borders”, which examined inclusive approaches to digital education, stressing the importance of resilience, critical thinking and lifelong learning while avoiding rigid categorisation of target groups.
The gathering also provided a platform for scholarly exchange, featuring more than 35 paper presentations and a poster session showcasing interdisciplinary research and regional good practices in digital education, technology-enhanced learning and inclusion.
Through this initiative, the CEI has contributed to advancing regional cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of digital education and innovation.
