The Inter-Ministerial Conference on Labour Migration was held in Belgrade on 6 - 7, November 2025, under the Serbian CEI Presidency. The conference focused on "Regular Pathways and Sustainable Labour Markets," brought together ministers and experts to discuss international instruments, fair labour mobility, and the challenges of managing labour migration in Central and Eastern Europe.
The welcome speeches were delivered by Minister Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran, and Social Affairs; Ivica Dačić, Vice-President of the Government and Minister, Ministry of Interior and Minister Naida Nisic Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue of Montenegro.
On behalf of the Central European Initiative, the gathering was welcomed by Deputy Secretary General Zsuzsanna Király who underlined that in the Central European Initiative region, the movement of people was a defining feature of our time.
“The CEI’s 17 member states are more than just neighbors on a map, they are connected by history, by culture, by geography and by their economies. Labour migration is perhaps the biggest shared opportunity we have, but it is also a major challenge”, she added.
Key discussions included the need for evidence-based policies, equality for migrant workers, inter-ministerial coordination, and creating sustainable labour markets.
