Rights and Protection of Children Left Behind by Parents Migrating for Labour

The three-day workshop taking place in Bucharest on 17-19 April aims at: providing the opportunity for representatives of child-focused NGOs and networks in the region to meet and exchange information and practices on the situation of children left behind due to the migration of parents for labour reasons; facilitating better understanding of the size, dynamics and effects of the labour migration of parents in the region; identifying existing good practices in protecting the rights of and providing adequate support to the children left behind by parents migrating for labour reasons.

Expected results:

  • a joint statement on the situation of children left behind by parents migrating for labour reasons communicated widely to decision makers in 21 countries;
  • a collection of existing good practices in providing support to the children and protecting the rights of the children affected by this phenomenon in the region.
