Kosovo: Vucic, tariffs must be abolished

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 28 - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic rejected the proposal made by Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who yesterday announced a partial abolition of tariffs on imports from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, from March 15, in exchange for the stop of Serbia's campaign to revoke the green light given to Kosovo's independence. The president said he shared the stance of the US Special Envoy for Kosovo Richard Grenell, according to whom compromises are not acceptable, but tariffs should be abolished. "We can negotiate if the tariffs will be eliminated, but until then, we can only have patience and tolerance," said Vucic. Yesterday Kurti announced that if Serbia responded positively to his proposal, from April 1 the tariffs would be abolished on all other goods for 90 days. According to Vucic, such partialities and constraints are inadmissible. In his opinion, Kosovo should abolish all anti-Serbian tariffs, and only then can dialogue resume. (ANSA).
