(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 1 - The top leadership of Hungary is engaged in a tug-of-war. President Tamas Sulyok rejected Prime Minister Peter Magyar's ultimatum, ruling out the possibility of resignation despite the fact that the deadline for him to do so had passed. In a Facebook video, Sulyok stated that he will remain in his position and continue to cooperate with the government, including working to unlock European funds destined for Budapest. Magyar's response was quick. Following a meeting with the president and the Minister of Justice, the prime minister explained that he informed the president that, unless he resigns, the government and Tisza's parliamentarians will immediately begin the legislative process to replace him, bolstered by the two-thirds super majority obtained at the April 12 elections.
