Weapons discovered in Tarvisio, linked to crimes in Austria

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 28 - The Carabinieri discovered three assault rifles in a wooded area near Fusine, in the Tarvisio municipality (Udine). Officers from the local station and colleagues from the Company's Operations Unit made the discovery while conducting an operation along State Road 54. The weapons left in the woods included two semi-automatic rifles stored in briefcases—a Steyer Aug A3 Kommando and a Daniel Defence—as well as a third semi-automatic rifle, a WBP model. All were equipped with magazines but lacked ammunition. Bomb squad members from the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Udine also responded on the scene, conducting technical inspections and securing the weapons. According to preliminary investigations, the rifles are linked to crimes committed in neighbouring Austria. The weapons were seized and will now be subjected to additional technical and ballistic tests on the order of the judicial authorities. (ANSA).
