Growth risks will be determined by the duration of the war: ECB

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 15 - The Middle East conflict "is weighing on economic activity," and data "point to a weakening of growth and the outbreak of the war," with consumer and business confidence in the future "having been eroded." This is what the ECB emphasised in its economic bulletin, following eurozone growth slowing to 0.1% in the first quarter of 2026. Despite the economy's "good resilience," with unemployment at historic lows, the outlook sees "downside risks," which "will depend on the duration of the conflict in the Middle East," according to the report.
