Mittelyoung returns to Cividale with 9 shows from 7 countries

(ANSA) - UDINE, 13 MAG - Mittelfest's under-30 program devoted to theater, dance, music, and circus from Central Europe, called Mittelyoung, will return from May 14 to 17 at the Church of Santa Maria dei Battuti in Cividale del Friuli. Now in its sixth edition, it will feature 9 performances selected from 238 submissions from 28 countries, with 7 nationalities represented: Italy, Germany, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Bulgaria, and Latvia. The program is part of "Fear," the theme chosen by Mittelfest artistic director Giacomo Pedini for the festival's 35th edition. The lineup includes 2 theater productions, 3 music performances, 2 dance works, and 2 circus pieces, also supported by Mittelfest on the production side. "After 6 editions, Mittelyoung is no longer just a section of Mittelfest, but a permanent system," Pedini said. The performances were selected by a group of 20 under-30 curators, who will also choose the 3 titles that will move on to the main Mittelfest program, scheduled for July 16-26. For the third straight year, the international expert jury has also been confirmed: Riccardo Ventrella of Teatro della Pergola in Florence, Francesca Di Fazio of ERT Fondazione, and critic and scholar Roberto Canziani. The program will open on May 14 with the dance piece Wujin by Felix Chang and the concert Nove stare zgodbe by Slovenian duo Duplina. The following days will feature the circus show Chuck My Life, the theater work Un live podcast, the dance piece Adam's Apple, the dark-concert Akylas | ex opseos, the theater performance Insert coin/player one, the concert A song is a map, and a preview of Breath. Also scheduled are the Cit Ciat, free-admission meetings with the artists in the cloister of Santa Maria dei Battuti. (ANSA).
