(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 7 - The German environmental association DUH has announced its intention to take legal action against Friedrich Merz's government's "inadequate" climate policy. The NGO intends to file two lawsuits against the CDU-SPD coalition at the Berlin-Brandenburg Administrative Court of Appeal. DUH intends to enforce a Federal Administrative Court ruling dated January 29, which requires the government to strengthen the climate plan adopted in 2023 in order to meet the 2030 targets. These targets require a 65% reduction in national CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 1990. Following a complaint from DUH, the German judiciary condemned the previous government of Olaf Scholz for its climate protection measures in late 2023. (ANSA).
