Kosovo, sentencing for Thaci and KLA leader postponed by two month

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 6 - The Special Tribunal for Kosovo in The Hague has extended the deadline for sentencing former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders, including former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, in their trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the 1998-1999 conflict, for which 45-year prison terms are sought. "Due to the case's complexity, the Panel of Judges has decided to extend the sentencing deadline by 60 days, to Monday, July 20, 2026. "This date does not correspond to the actual sentencing date, but rather the expiration date of the extension," the statement reads. (ANSA).
