(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 4 - The European Union intends to suspend funds allocated to Serbia under the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans 2024-2027, due to controversial judicial reforms approved by the Serbian parliament in January, known as the "Mrdić Laws," named after the MEP who proposed them, which Europe accuses of undermining the judiciary's autonomy. Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, made the statement on May 1 during an event at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. (ANSA).
